Getting ahead of the trends
As budding fashionistas (Christmas jumpers aside…), we’ll be dressing to impress and, if this interesting article from the Guardian last month on how fashion influencers are sparking houseware and interior trends is anything to go by, it looks like we’ll be well suited to our surroundings! As the article explains, there has been a natural progression for those who are interested in fashion and its textures, colours and patterns to naturally extend that into the home. So, with Autumn Fair on the horizon, surely it’s the perfect excuse to go clothes shopping?!
Summer is over and the high street clothes shops are filling up with the new autumn colours and trends; you can expect to see a wide array of crochet, knitwear and corduroy in earthy greens and golds. Interestingly, these trends tie in with what we heard from trend forecasters Scarlet Opus at our visit to Exclusively Housewares earlier this year and their prediction of the ‘Homeland’ trend. With international commemorations for the centenary of the end of the First World War, Scarlet Opus predicted that housewares will return to the handcrafted era and colour palettes will be strongly connected with nature.
We can’t wait to see whether this theory holds true at Autumn Fair and we’ll be checking the show’s fashion catwalks and keeping on the lookout for our favourite on-trend products and brands.
