Live brief activity with Staffordshire University Students

We’ve had a resident Lecturer in our agency midst for the last few years with Sam Owen sharing her educational words of wisdom with Staffordshire University students on the BA (Hons) Advertising and Brand Management course. Sam continues to manage a dual career with her Account Director role at Brookes & Co and her Senior Lecturer role at Staffordshire University.

This semester Sam will be providing learning content for a module developed for 2nd year BA (Hons) Graphic Design students with learning outcomes relating to analysis, knowledge creation and application through a 6 week live client brief. To kick off this live brief Sam has pulled in the skills of our very own Michele Rastall and together they took a trip to the University campus to brief the students on this exciting live opportunity. Michele, Client Services Director, was received by a full house of students listening, scribbling notes and asking questions that voiced their excitement about this joint venture. Students voice their satisfaction and intent to please when guest lecturers, industry professionals and academic lecturer join forces, so this collaboration has been sincerely welcomed.

“Our clients keep us on our toes, but speaking to students is a whole new ball game. Bright and sparky with a nervous energy and desire to do well, my challenge was to talk to this audience without the normal marcomms jargon. It’s a refreshing break from the office and I’m looking forward to the students’ presentations back to me in February. It’s the perfect opportunity to spot out for new up and coming talent too. Win-win!” says Michele.

As an agency we’re happy to be associated with Staffordshire University and making a difference in the education of our next generation of marketing communication and graphic design students.

The rest of the Brookes team are wondering who Sam will pick on next to get involved in her student adventures.
